Professional Development
Continuous Professional Development (CPD)
The world of education is constantly changing, so CPD allows teachers to stay in the loop with new
techniques, research and how to support kids with different learning needs. Essentially, doing
regular CPD means teachers can keep growing, stay motivated and be better equipped to inspire
their students. It’s about embracing lifelong learning, so teachers feel confident they’re giving their
classes the best possible lessons.
The Brighton School recognizes the importance of CPD for all staff to ensure that they are equipped
with the necessary knowledge and skills to effectively support the learning and development of our
students. This policy sets out Brighton’s commitment to providing ongoing professional
development opportunities, which links to the Brighton School’s Improvement Plan and to the
ongoing professional development needs and priorities of all staff.
Our targets and expectations of our own performance are very high. We are committed to raising
standards in education and doing everything in our power to improve the life chances of
Brightoners. To this end, we are committed to the continuing professional development of all staff
at Brighton to develop and empower and help achieve our overall vision. At Brighton our teachers
and leaders undertake a minimum of 35 hours engaged in CPD learning to ensure they are meeting
the highest professional development standards and are committed to continuous learning and
growth.
